The thing that really struck me, though, is how reasonable the prices were. It's actually an amazing place.
We stop by this place every time we goto our cabin. Kids love looking at all the rocks. They have a lot to look at other than rocks. Butterfly display as well as other insects in a case. Many different rocks with cards tell you all about them.
You could spend hours here looking at the gems, rocks and minerals, insect displays, jewelry, fossils, and other things of that sort. About 1/4 of the building is also a museum.
The gem of the North Shore. The agate shop has a huge selection of rocks and fossilized creatures. The staff people are extremely knowledge and can help you identify anything you've picked up on your trip, as well as give a full geological history of every specimen in the shop. The highlight of the agate shop is its little museum in the back room. In the museum you can see the best locally and internationally found specimens that the shop has collected over the years. Beaver Bay Agate Shop is a great place to visit and stretch your legs, as you travel up the North Shore.
I buy crystals here every time I visit. Great selection. Always something new.
